February 2023
Bells were ringing at the theatre in February. Wedding bells that is! ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID kept audiences laughing with full houses throughout it’s two week run. I’d like to welcome Nancy Laudeman and Shelley Spate as new actors to BCP! What a great way to RING in the new year! February also brought with it auditions for THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL. So much talent! I’m thrilled to be a part of this hilarious romp through “Armadillo Acres” as the Producer of this show. What’s a producer? A producer can have different roles depending on the theatre and the production. At BCP, my role is to be the manager of the production and support the artistic team for the show. I’m here to manage the budget, help find resources such as staff members, crew, or materials needed. I am the liaison between the show staff and board of directors as well. I will also work with the marketing chair and box office to make sure everyone has what they need to produce a successful show. My mantra is “what can I do to help set you up for success?” Sound like a lot of work ? It can be, but it’s also VERY rewarding. And more importantly, we have a wonderful core of volunteers. Producers do need to be a member of BCP. Interested in learning more? Check out our membership page! What kind of skills do you need to be a producer? You need to be organized, detailed oriented, be a good record keeper (budgets, receipts, contacts, schedules, etc.), good at problem solving, and most importantly a strong communicator. I might add another personal quality I think a producer needs to have, a positive attitude. Sound like something you might want to try? We’d gladly train you or pair you with a current producer to learn the ropes. Producing just might be your TICKET at BCP! Stay tuned for what we will share with you next month! Here is a sneak peek. ARE YOU BEING SERVED? rehearsals are well underway. Matt Spurlock makes his directorial debut for this production. Click here for more information and to get your ticket soon! This show promises to be a roaring romp with those loveable characters at Grace Brothers Department Store! Till next month, I hope you have a great month and that I’ll see you at the theatre! Theatrically yours, Cathy Cutshall President Buck Creek Players

Hello and welcome to the first monthly blog to keep you up to date on what’s happening at the theatre! This blog is for the experienced and newbie to theatre. Whether you are someone who likes to participate or are an avid theatre patron, my goal is to inform and sometimes educate. I’m very excited to be a part of BCP and hope to inspire you to join us on stage, backstage, in the audience, or as a member. So, let’s get started!
We are thrilled to be back for live theatre, and I am so thankful to the patrons and volunteers who joined us for last year’s season! We started with ROSIE THE RIVETER and the great theme of “We Can Do It!” and ended the season with LITTLE WOMEN the Broadway Musical. What a way to end our Season of Empowerment. Again, thank you to everyone who joined us! Our efforts were rewarded with 56 nominations for the season from the Encore Association of Indianapolis. The awards ceremony was held on November 7th. Don’t know about the Encores? I think the best way to describe them is as the “Tony’s” of Indianapolis Community Theater. I’m happy to say we received 19 awards! While we do this for the love of theater, it’s nice to have our peers recognize our work. As always, so much is happening at the theatre! We’ve kicked off our 49th season with our production of LIZZIE BORDEN of FALL RIVER, followed by OVER MY DEAD BODY, and ending 2022 with our holiday production of THE GAME’S AFOOT or Holmes for the Holidays! We are thrilled to say THE GAME’S AFOOT had the highest number of patrons attend since we closed our doors for COVID!! Thank you to all who attended this production! What a way to end 2022! Always a flurry of activity at BCP! Rehearsals are underway for our next production of ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID. This funny play takes four lifelong friends on a rocky journey of love and marriage to answer the question, just how far are you willing to go to keep a promise to a friend? This laugh out loud comedy is one you won’t want to miss! We’re working hard to make BCP the place to be in 2023! I look forward to telling you about more activities happening this year in next month’s blog! If you have a topic you’d liked to learn about, send me an email at buckcreekplayers@yahoo.com or post a comment to the blog on our webpage. Till then, I hope you have a great month and that I’ll see you at the theatre! Theatrically yours, Cathy Cutshall |
