FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who is eligible to participate?
Due to the legality of the bidding process, all those participating in the production must be eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of bidding.  You may not bid on anyone else's behalf.  Please read the Bidding Agreement carefully and e-mail us with any questions prior to submitting it.

How do I participate?
The first step is to complete the Bidding Agreement and submit it online. After submitting your Bidding Agreement, you will then need to register for a CharityAuctionsToday.com account to begin entering your bids at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019.  The bidding site will automatically notify you when (and if) you are outbid.  For your convenience, links to both the Bidding Agreement and CharityAuctionsToday online bidding and auction page are included in the IMPORTANT LINKS section above.

I have never been on stage before?  Can I bid on a role?
Of course!  The Play-A-Part Fundraisers are designed especially for people who fit this description.  Fulfill that dream and "play a part!"  You will find a nice mix of veteran stage performers and first-timers in all of these productions.  It is the best support system you will ever find.  Always wanted to be in a musical, but you may not be the best singer? Have you wanted to play Brad Majors, but you're a female?  Want to play Janet Weiss, but too old? The Play-A-Part Fundraiser productions are perfect for you!

Can I review a script prior to bidding?
Yes!  Simply e-mail us.

Why must I submit a Bidding Agreement prior to bidding on a role?
The Bidding Agreement is a legally binding contract between you (the bidder) and Buck Creek Players. By submitting it, you are agreeing to donate the winning bid amount to us in order to perform your winning role in the production. Per the agreement, if you are unable to fully execute the role, you are still bound to your tax-deductible contribution to the playhouse.

If I win a role, when must I pay for it?
The Bidding Agreement explains this in detail.  If you are a winning bidder, you will be invoiced for your role no later than 72 hours following the close of the auction.  Payment is due via the CharityAuctionsToday website no later than 72 hours after being notified by the playhouse.  If payment is not made by this time, the role will automatically be offered to the next highest bidder.  All transactions processed on the CharityAuctionsToday website are secure, and 100% of the funds are contributed to Buck Creek Players, Inc.

When will rehearsals be held?
Rehearsals will be held Sunday through Thursday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. Based on need, there may be occasional Saturday rehearsals or work days. Rehearsals will begin with a Meet & Greet/Read-Through with the entire cast and staff at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2019.

Not every character will be needed at every rehearsal.  Those with larger-sized roles will be involved with more rehearsals than those with smaller roles; however, all cast members are expected to spend time outside of rehearsals memorizing lines, songs, and staging.

When placing your bid, please make sure you can do the following:
  • Be at the majority of all rehearsals listed on the tentative rehearsal schedule. If you have to miss more than three rehearsals, this show may not be right for you.
  • All cast members are required to be available for all rehearsals the last two weeks of the rehearsal schedule ( July 21-August 4, 2019). At this point, the rehearsal schedule consists of running either Act 1, Act 2, or the entire show. Additionally, all the technical aspects are added during this time. If you have conflicts during these two weeks, this may not be the right time to participate in a production.
  • Be able to stick to the conflicts listed on your Bidding Agreement. The final rehearsal schedule will use the listed conflicts to determine when you will need to be at rehearsal. If you have a large number of conflicts or are unsure, this may not be the right time to do a show.

Please review the tentative rehearsal schedule posted here prior to submitting your bid.

I have questions.  Can I get an answer before I bid?
Yes! We encourage you to ask any questions before you complete the Bidding Agreement to bid on a part.  Please review the Bidding Agreement and tentative rehearsal schedule, and then e-mail us your question(s).

What if I just want to be in the show? Is there a Chorus or an Ensemble?
Yes, there is an Ensemble (or Chorus) made up of the Phantoms. While there are no spoken lines or singing solos, everyone sings and performs in a group. If you have questions, please e-mail us. All of the Phantom roles are available at a 'Buy It Now' price of $25, the minimum bid; therefore, you will not be bidding against anyone for these parts. Of course, we will graciously accept more than the $25 minimum donation, if you are feeling generous and would like to donate more to our fundraising efforts.

What if I realize my bidding agreement is incorrect or I didn't include all my conflicts?
You will want to contact us as soon as you realize the error for further instructions.  If the issue is a minor oversight, we will have you submit information in an e-mail.  If the issue is larger or more involved, we will ask you to complete a new bidding agreement.  Providing false information on a bidding agreement is grounds for removal from the production; therefore, correcting the situation is important.

I would like to bid on a specific role, but have a specific idea that may not be the normal way the character is played. Will I be able to modify my character?
In accordance with the licensing contract, all male roles must be played as male and all female roles played as female, with their required lines and songs. However, we have had multiple instances when a man has played a woman's role and vice-versa. If you have questions on a specific character, please e-mail us before you place your bid.

What happens if you don't fill all the roles from the online auction?
As this is a fundraiser, we hope to fill all roles through the online auction.  Roles not filled by the auction will be cast from other volunteers at the discretion of the director.  Any volunteers used to fill the roles will be asked, but not required, to contribute the minimum bid of $25 for their role.

Do you have other questions that are not covered here?
E-mail us, and we will be glad to answer them!
