Buck Creek Playhouse will hold open auditions for THE VULTURES by Mark A. Ridge on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00 am at the playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46259.
Call backs by invitation on Saturday, June 29th at 2:00pm.
Director Andrew Souders is seeking a diverse cast of 2 female presenting roles, 7 male presenting roles, and 1 open role. All actors must be a minimum of eighteen years of age and all roles are available.
ABOUT THE VULTURES
It’s a dark and stormy night at the mansion on Westmount Estate. As the guests arrive for the reading of a will, the mysterious housekeeper declares, “The relatives are swooping in like a wake of vultures ready to pick the carcass clean.”
Who will ultimately inherit the fortune? Will it be the charming realtor, the handsome male model, the dimwitted nail technician, the bitter old woman, the endearing hairdresser, or the mild-mannered accountant? Throw in a priceless pocket watch, an androgynous housekeeper, an escaped mental patient, and a pair of reunited lovers and the result is murder, with a hefty dose of humor.
In the vein of “AND THEN THERE WERE NONE” and “CLUE”, THE VULTURES puts a comedic, modern day, gay spin on the classic murder mystery genre. This production will be rated PG-13.
AUDITION PREPARATION
Bring resume and headshot, if available.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script. If you have a short comedic monologue, you may be asked
to perform it. However, this is not a requirement.
THE VULTURES is scheduled for six performances over two weekends, October 4, 2024 - October 13, 2024
Please bring a list of all conflicts from August 26, 2024 through October 13, 2024.
Rehearsals are tentatively set to begin August 26, 2024.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script. If you have a short comedic monologue, you may be asked
to perform it. However, this is not a requirement.

TALBOT
Between 45 - 80
A dark, severe, androgynous, being. Dresses in black and wears dark spectacles.
Note: The role of Talbot may be played by a male or female actor; however the character is a female and
must be played as such.
MR. CROSBY
50's to 60’s
A friendly lawyer.
Note: At the discretion of the director, the role may be changed to Ms. Crosby and played as a female.
HARRISON BLYTHE
Mid 30’s to mid 40’s
A handsome male model with a nice physique.
Note: In one scene, the character of Harrison appears on stage in his underwear.
MARY ROBERTS
50's to 80’s
A stately, well-dressed, bitter old woman. She appears to dislike everyone and everything.
ASHLEY HOPWOOD
20’s to mid 30’s
A pleasant, nail technical from the South. She is not too bright.
CHARLES WILLARD
40's
A charming, mild-mannered realtor.
PAUL JONES
Mid 20’s to 30’s
A sweet, gentle, gay accountant.
HUNTER WEST
Mid 20’s or 30’s
A charming, young, gay hairdresser.
RINEHART
30's to 50’s
A hospital guard. Big, strong and can be brutal.
DR. AVERY
60’s to 70’s
A friendly doctor.
