Buck Creek Players and Director Matt Spurlock are excited to announce their upcoming production of ARE YOU BEING SERVED? by Jeremy Lloyd & David Croft. Welcome to Grace Brothers. If you are in need of a Cheeky Inuendo, a Politically Incorrect Stereotype, or some sexy underwear, then take the lift to the third floor where Captain Peacock will guide you on your venture to the Ladies and Menswear departments. Mr. Grainger, Mrs. Slocombe, Mr. Humphreys, Miss Brahms, and Mr. Lucas will see that all your 1970s British sitcom needs are taken care of. Buck Creek Players is pleased to continue our 49th season with this live event on our mainstage. CAST BIOGRAPHIES
TOM SMITH (Mr. Grainger) is very happy to make his fifth appearance at Buck Creek Players, having previously appeared in THE MATCHMAKER, THE UNEXPECTED GIFT, PYGMALION and, most recently, FLY BABIES. Some of Tom’s favorite roles have been Colonel Evans in FLY BABIES, Judge Taylor in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD at Civic Theater, Major Metcalf in MOUSETRAP at Anderson’s Alley Theater, and Alex in HEISENBERG, THE UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE at the Basile Westfield Playhouse. It is a real pleasure for Tom to come back to Buck Creek, which feels more and more like home. Tom thanks you, the audience, for coming out to see the show and supporting local theater! Tom is a member of the board of directors for the Basile Westfield Playhouse. He is retired from the FBI and resides in Westfield.

PATRICK M. MURPHY (Mr. Mash) returns to the Buck Creek stage despite numerous objections. Community Theater Patrons may recognize him from his portrayals of Arthur in THE SECOND TIME AROUND at Center Stage and Epilogue. Patrick has been seen on our stage as The Narrator in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, August in THE MATCHMAKER, Judd Fry in OKLAHOMA, and Darryl in GENDER SOUFFLE. Behind the scenes he has garnered Encore Award Nominations for Best Lighting Design for a Drama, and Best Sound Design for a Comedy. Patrick is very glad to be "Home" at Buck Creek and as always appreciates his time away from his 5 kids and adoring wife and would like to thank them for their understanding of his Community Theater avocation.

LINDY MEYER (Mr. Rumbold) was last on stage as Brother Myopia in NUNSENSE, THE SECOND COMING for Shelby County Players. Prior to that, he was cast in the role of Dub Dubberly in Christi's Off Broadway's production of SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY. Prior to that, he was Mr. Martini in Shelby County Players' 2018 production of ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST. He also played bass guitar in the instrumental ensemble for Buck Creek Players' 2014 production of CARRIE: THE MUSICAL. He has been involved in numerous SCP productions since 2004. He has played the role of Judge Taylor in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, Tevye in FIDDERL ON THE ROOF with SCP as well as Rush County Players, and was in the SCP productions of DAMN YANKEES, THE CRUCIBLE, MURDER BY MISADVENTURE, SOMETHING'S AFOOT, LITTLE HEIDI, DON'T DRINK THE WATER, HARVEY, and IN ON BED AND OUT THE OTHER. Lindy has been an assistant director and held various crew positions, and has directed four plays: THE PRISONER OF SECOND AVENUE, THE CURIOUS SAVAGE, THE SAVAGE DILEMMA, and BOEING, BOEING, all for SCP. He currently serves as Box Office Manager for SCP and lives in Shelbyville with his wife Cheryl. He is a court reporter by profession.

ANNA ELY (Miss Brahms) has been involved in numerous Kokomo Civic Theatre, Ole Olsen Memorial Theatre, Indiana University Kokomo, and Curtain Call shows. Some favorites include Catherine/Helene Shaw/Paula in WHO AM I THIS TIME AND OTHER CONUNDRUMS OF LOVE, Maggie in CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, Tuptim in THE KING AND I, Vivienne in LEGALLY BLONDE and Co-directing WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. In her free time, Anna loves game and movie nights with friends and family, karaoke nights, visiting local breweries and wineries. Thank you to my family and friends for allll of your support and patience with the busyness and breakdowns during shows and to Justin, the best line memorization buddy a girl could ask for.

TIM LATIMER (Captain Peacock) is thrilled to be performing at Buck Creek again after having performed in LIZZIE BORDEN OF FALL RIVER, A FEW GOOD MEN, NUTS, THE RAINMAKER. His acting resume includes performances at several theaters throughout central Indiana, a handful of Encore Award nominations, a few TV commercials and most recently his first independent film (set to be released this summer). Tim is a retired history teacher and now works part time for Ivy Tech Community College. He would like to thank Directors Matt Spurlock and Mel DeVito and Producer Francie Mitchaner for casting him in this fun comedy. He would also like to thank his outstanding cast mates, as well as the lights, sound, and sound techies. Sue in Costumes, the stage crew, and construction crew for all their hard work and dedication. At the end of the play Tim wants to know…Are You Free?

SHARON WINDERLICH (Mrs. Slocombe) makes her debut with Buck Creek Players after a long hiatus from the theater. Sharon last show was in Napa Valley CA in LIES, CHEAT, GENUFLECT playing Jane. She has had the wonderful opportunity to play Eleanor of Aquitaine twice as well as several characters in Shakespeare plays her favorite was Titania in MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM. Sharon was in the Air Force for 18years as a Surgical Nurse and retired from the VA Medical Center in Jan 2020. Sharon is very excited to return to the theater especially with fabulous character. Sharon loves spending every summer at Flat Rock River Summer Camp as one of their Nurses. She loves spending time with her family. Sharon would like to thank her Husband Bernie for his love and support.

DAVID SHETTERLY (Mr. Grace) makes his debut with Buck Creek Players after most recently appearing as the Joe Stoddard (The Undertaker) for the POET-APE/Nickel Plate Arts production of OUR TOWN in Noblesville. A retiree from the united States Army, some of his favorite roles include Norman Thayer in ON GOLDEN POND, Mr. Witherspoon in ARSENIC & OLD LACE and Richard Bravo in BAD SEED. Dave has also enjoyed appearing in many other productions including NIGHT MUST FALL, NO SEX PLEASE, WE'RE BRITISH, OLIVER, BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE in TEXAS, 110 IN THE SHADE, and many more. Dave has also been STAGE MANAGER and/or STAGE CREW for many productions. When not involved with theatre, Dave enjoys Gardening and yard work and traveling to see the many beautiful sites of Indiana. Dave would like to thank his son Brian for getting him involved in theatre many years ago and his wife Sharon for putting up with and supporting his involvement in theatre.

BETH POPPLEWELL (Nurse) is excited to be returning to BCP after running the lightboard for ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID and LITTLE WOMEN THE BROADWAY MUSICAL. Favorite productions at BCP include ROSIE THE RIVETER, (Evelyn) THE MATCHMAKER ,(Gertrude) A LITTLE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT, (Angelina) and several BCP Play-A-Part Fundraiser shows, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, ANNIE, PETER PAN, AND ROCKY HORROR. Other favorite shows include OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MURDER (Minna) at Our Town Players, and THE WILD WOMEN OF WINEDALE (Glenda Bates) at Epilogue Theater. She was also the character of FRANKIE THE FRIENDLY WITCH at the Indianapolis Zoo for ZOO BOO. When not doing theater, she enjoys being "semi" retired, working part time for Gillespie Florists, and spending time with friends, family. She wishes to thank Nicki and BCP for the opportunity to be on the stage again, and to family, friends, and co-workers for putting up with her crazy schedule.

NICKIE CORNETT (Lady Customer/Taeresa/Assistant Stage Manager) is excited to be working with Matt on this production after having recently making her directing debut at Buck Creek Players with OVER MY DEAD BODY. Prior to that, Nickie was last seen helping backstage for LITTLE WOMEN: The Broadway Musical. She has been involved with BCP in many capacities on and off stage since 2017. When she isn't onstage, backstage or in the box office, you can find her hanging out with her dogs! She thanks her family and friends for their constant support!

DENNIS KARR (Male Customer/Cesar) returns to our stage after having most recently playing Frank Gould in OVER MY DEAD BODY. A transplanted Hoosier from the great state of Kansas, he has appeared in several BCP productions including his previous role as Father John Mulcahy in M*A*S*H. Throughout the years BCP audiences might remember him from our productions of AUNTIE MAME, BUS STOP, HAROLD AND MAUDE, A LITTLE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT, ESCANABA IN DA MOONLIGHT, and THINGS MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME. In his spare time, Dennis enjoys golfing, reading, gambling, and "messing around in the backyard". As usual, he would like to thank his wife for her patience, understanding, and support.

RON PITTMAN (Don Bernardo) is happy to return to the stage at BCP after appearing in its fall production of OVER MY DEAD BODY in the role of Saint Francis. Previous BCP productions in which he appeared have been THE MATCHMAKER in the role of Rudolf and MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET in the role of Kris Kringle. He is most proud of winning acting awards at Clarksville Little Theater and Epilogue Players and receiving Encore nominations. Ron teaches Spanish and English Language Learners and volunteers with the Indiana Reading Information Service. He would like to thank the audience for their support of community theater!

MARIA MANALANG (Conchita) immigrated to the United States from the Philippines in 1978. She is a program manager at the International Marketplace Coalition & Global Village Welcome Center and Director of Respiratory Therapy department in Greenwood Health Care. She is a Founder & Artistic Director of SAYAW: Philippine Cultural Dance Company and Founder/Chair of Mabuhay! Philippine Cultural Community. Maria was a dancer & choreographer for IUPUI Moving Company (1989-1996) and one of the original dancers with Susurrus Dance Company (1990's). Maria's other passion is travel and has taken her to 35 countries and counting. Her goal is to travel to all 50 states of the U.S. Maria joined theater in high school as an extra in a musical. She most recently performed as Hazel Ying Lee in FLY BABIES.

FRANCIE MITCHANER (Producer) is beyond excited to be back working alongside the gifted and talented cast and crew of ARE YOU BEING SERVED? It is hard to say if you will find Francie on or off stage, but you are sure to see her somewhere around the theater; most recently on stage as JEAN in GOOD PEOPLE; and Producer for BCP's THE GAME'S AFOOT. She also served as Producer for OVER MY DEAD BODY and Assistant Director and Stage Manager for the Buck Creek Players outdoor production of the LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW. Other roles she has played at BCP include Nancy/Ensemble in ROSIE THE RIVETER, Deputy Dot in CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAYS, and Magenta/Usherette in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW: THE BCP PLAY-A-PART FUNDRAISER. Francie would like to thank her family and friends for their support and encourages the audience to sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

MATTHEW SPURLOCK (Director) makes his Directorial debut with ARE YOU BEING SERVED. Most recently, he served as Assistant Director and co-sound designer for the Encore Award-winning FLY BABIES. Matt has been seen on stage at Buck Creek Players as Malachi Stack in THE MATCHMAKER, Noah Curry in THE RAINMAKER, and Rick in MAKING GOD LAUGH. Non-BCP roles include Lincoln Sinclair in MISSING LINK and the Butler in CLUE, both for The Players Club. Matt's work has been heard in many performances at Buck Creek, as he spends a good deal of his time designing the music and sound effects for various shows over the past five years, earning two Encore Awards for best sound design. Outside of theatre, Matt is an industrial lubrication and hydraulics expert, currently working for Georgia Pacific, and is actively working towards a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership. Matt would like to thank the staff of ARE YOU BEING SERVED for their dedication to excellence and the cast for their unwavering commitment to the art of theater. He'd also like to thank his wife and family for their support while pursuing this project on top of everyday life.

MELISSA DEVITO (Assistant Director & Properties) is back after having most recently directing ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID and playing Miranda Gould in OVER MY DEAD BODY. Mel has been very active with BCP, as a director, props, costumer, and Board of Directors member. Recently she directed FLY BABIES and ROSIE THE RIVETER, and costumed LITTLE WOMEN: THE BROADWAY MUSICAL with the help of Donna Jacobi and Cathy Cutshall. When not at the theater, Mel enjoys her job as a respiratory therapist at Home Respiratory Services, drag racing cars with her husband Rick, and hanging out with her family, especially her granddaughters Ellie and Blake. She also enjoys camping and snuggling with her pit bull Zoey.

CONNIE SALVINI THOMPSON (Assistant Director & Sound Design) returns to Buck Creek Players with her first assistant directing role. She played Mrs Kirk/Ensemble in Buck Creek's LITTLE WOMEN: THE BROADWAY MUSICAL last summer. She's also had the pleasure to operate BCP's light board for OVER MY DEAD BODY and THE GAME'S AFOOT, as well as co-designing the sound and operating the soundboard for ALWAYS A BRIDESMAID. Her introduction to theatre was playing trombone in the pit orchestra of CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG at Perry Meridian High School. She studies environmental public safety at Ivy Tech, and she works as a caregiver for her mother. She is proud to be an organizer in the Party for Socialism and Liberation. She would like to thank director Matt Spurlock for the role and all of Buck Creek Players for being a second family to her.

SUE KUEHNHOLD (Costume Design) is happy to be returning as costume designer at BCP for this production. She holds a masters degree in Drama/Theatre from the Ohio State University and a masters in education from the University of Colorado at Denver, and most currently uses her skills in non-profit arts administration. Her production credits include teaching, directing, acting and/or administrating scholastically and organizationally across the nation, and has been privileged to learn and work with some awesome mentors at Busch Gardens, Walt Disney World and the USO. Since moving to Indy, Sue has been working locally with Buck Creek Players, Footlight Musicals, Theatre Unchained, as well as other regional production companies in the community of theatre; primarily in lighting and costuming, but occasionally you may see her on stage, but ONLY if well lit and well dressed! Her BCP credits include lighting for ROSIE THE RIVITER, IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, MATCH MAKER, EVERY CHRISTMAS STORY EVER TOLD and CLIFF HANGER, as well as costuming for HAROLD AND MAUDE, FLAMING IDIOTS, CARRIE THE MUSICAL, A FEW GOOD MEN, and THE RINK. Sue is occasionally seen on stage and was honored to play the BCP boards as Major Houlihan in MASH and Jackie Cochran in FLY BABIES. Sue is grateful for the opportunity work on ARE YOU BEING SERVED? and is excited for everyone that is touched by the arts in any way. Have a jolly good time!

Duane Mercier (Lighting Design) has been involved in every aspect of theatre since high school, including acting, directing, technical design and operation, and administration. He is currently on the board of directors of Epilogue Players. Most recently he has appeared on stage at Epilogue in NOW AND THEN, OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS, MAGGIE’S CHOICE, FIRST MONDAY IN OCTOBER AND I NEVER SANG FOR MY FATHER. He was the Director for The Cocktail Hour, in 2020. He has also been involved locally with Mud Creek Players, Hendricks Civic Theatre and Indianapolis Civic Theatre.

TYLER RILEY (Light Board Operator) also known as "Mr. Personality." Tyler is probably the biggest introverted extravert there is. Everyone says that he is "one of a kind." Although he has theater experience, he is very excited for his debut running the light board with with Buck Creek Players. Tyler has been a school bus driver for four years! Tyler joins us from Shelby County Players and has been apart of several plays. Recently, Tyler designed the lighting for CINDERELLA.

TIFFANY D. WILSON (Stage Manager) is honored to be appearing in her ninth production with Buck Creek Players. She was first seen in 2012 in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE playing Kitty. She has also appeared as Sally Applewhite in IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A LIVE RADIO PLAY in 2017 and Lana Sherwood in 2021, and she recently portrayed Madge Geisel in THE GAME’S AFOOT. This is Tiffany’s first time helping backstage at Buck Creek. Tiffany has also been involved with Shelby County Players since 1999. Her favorite roles include Audrey in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, Agnes in I DO! I DO!, and Nurse Ratched in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST. In 2019, she won an Encore Award for Best Costumes for a Comedy for Shelby County Players’ BLITHE SPIRIT. Tiffany holds a Bachelors Degree in English and Theatre from Franklin College and a Masters of Library Science from Indiana University. She serves as the Branch Manager at the Franklin Branch of the Johnson County Public Library. She also works part-time for PAX (Program of Academic Exchange) placing wonderful exchange students with amazing host families.

JEREMY LLOYD was born on July 22, 1930 in Danbury, Essex, England, UK. He was a writer and actor, known for MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS (1974), ARE YOU BEING SERVED? (1977) and WHODUNNIT? (1972).
MAJOR DAVID JOHN CROFT was an English television comedy screenwriter, producer and director. He produced and wrote a string of BBC sitcoms with partners Jimmy Perry and Jeremy Lloyd, including DAD'S ARMY, ARE YOU BEING SERVED?, IT AIN'T HALF HOT MUM, HI-DE-HI! and 'ALLO'ALLO! |
