Beneath her confidence is a young person trying to understand her worth beyond achievement and recognition.
Vocal Style: Contemporary musical theatre; strong belt with flexibility and personality.
NOEL GRUBER
Stage Gender: Male
Playing Age: Teenager

CONSTANCE BLACKWOOD
Stage Gender: Female
Playing Age: Teenager
Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano / Alto | G3–E5Constance is sweet, friendly, enthusiastic, and seemingly content to live an ordinary life. Often underestimated by those around her, she initially appears to be the most cheerful and uncomplicated member of the choir. Her story reveals surprising depth, frustration, and a powerful desire to be truly seen.

JANE DOE
Stage Gender: Female
Playing Age: Teenager
Vocal Range: Soprano | G3–F6Jane Doe is the mystery of the Saint Cassian Chamber Choir. With no memory of her identity, her life, or even her own name, she is eerie, innocent, otherworldly, and deeply human. Her journey explores the terrifying and beautiful question of identity: who are we when everything we thought defined us has been taken away?
Jane Doe is one of the most vocally demanding roles in the production. The performer must also have the physical ability to perform highly stylized, acrobatic-inspired movement while singing. Background or experience in acrobatics, gymnastics, dance, aerial work, contortion, or other specialized physical performance is highly encouraged.
Vocal Style: Classical and contemporary influences. Requires a legitimate soprano with a secure, expressive upper register and the ability to sing with precision and haunting vulnerability.
RICKY POTTS
Stage Gender: Male
Playing Age: Teenager
Vocal Range: Tenor | C3–A4Ricky is imaginative, intelligent, and full of an enormous inner world that others often fail to recognize. In life, he was unable to communicate in the ways he wished, but in the afterlife his personality and imagination are given the freedom to explode into something extraordinary.
The role of Ricky has a meaningful history of being portrayed by actors with disabilities. Performers with disabilities are warmly encouraged to audition, and artists of all abilities are welcome to bring their own experiences, perspectives, and individuality to the role.
Vocal Style: Contemporary musical theatre with rock/pop influences. Requires a strong, expressive tenor.
THE AMAZING KARNAK
Gender: Any
Playing Age: Adult / Timeless
Vocal Range: FlexibleThe Amazing Karnak is an all-knowing mechanical fortune-telling machine who serves as narrator, guide, judge, and occasional antagonist. Sardonic, intelligent, and theatrical, Karnak oversees the competition between the choir members while gradually revealing a deeper understanding of their humanity.
Performers auditioning for Karnak are strongly encouraged to bring something unique, imaginative, and original to their interpretation. We are interested in fresh perspectives and creative choices rather than simply recreating a traditional interpretation. Take risks and show us what makes your Karnak distinct.
Vocal Style: Primarily spoken, with potential musical moments.
