ABOUT THE SHOW
Our 51st Season and Our Two Hundred and Forty Third Production!
Buck Creek Player and Director Andrew Souders are thrilled to announce their upcoming production of THE VULTURES by Mark A. Ridge.
It's a dark and stormy night at the mansion on Westmount Estate. As the guests arrive for the reading of the will, the mysterious housekeeper declares, "The relatives are swooping like a wake of vultures ready to pick the carcass clean". Who will ultimately inherit the fortune? Will it be the charming realtor, the handsome male model, the dimwitted nail technician, the bitter old woman, the endearing hairdresser, or the mild-mannered accountant? Throw in a priceless picket watch, an androgynous housekeeper, an escaped mental patient, and a pair of reunited lovers and the result is murder, with a hefty dose of laughs. THE VULTURES put a comedic, modern day, gay spin on the classic murder mystery genre. Buck Creek Players is pleased to continue our 51st season with this live event on our mainstage. Join us for the six live in-person performances at the playhouse starting Friday, October 4th and running through Sunday, October 13th. |

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
MARK A. RIDGE is a graduate of The University of Evansville and the Second City Actor Training Program. He has appeared in shows with the Shawnee Professional Theatre, The Court Theatre and The Griffin Theatre. He is currently an Actors' Equity Candidate, a proud member of the Pee-wee Herman Fun Club and a member of The Dramatists Guild of America.
As a playwright, Mark has been inspired by Tennessee Williams (for his brilliant use of language), Neil Simon (for his brilliant use of humor), and Penny Sycamore (who wrote plays simply because a typewriter was delivered to her home by mistake). Mark's plays include RUSSIAN ROULETTE, MY FRIDAY NIGHT BLUES and BESTSELLER. Mark took a nearly 20 year break from theatre to work in the casting department for over 100 film and television projects, including HOME ALONE (1 & 2), PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES, GROUNHOG DAY, E.R., and THE FUGITIVE. For a full list of his casting credits, visit the Internet Movie Database. Mark's recent plays include EUPHORIA and SIGN OF LIFE, which was produced by Theatre on the Square under the original title of KILLING KITTENS. His comedic, murder mystery, THE VULTURES was the winner of the Jewel Box Theatre Original Play Contest. The play has been produced in six different states and will be opening soon in Greenbay and Milwaukee. The script is published by Heuer Publishing. In his spare time, Mark is still working on his musical parody, 43rd STREET, a finalist in the Shawnee Playhouse Original Script Competition in Pennsylvania. Since he has absolutely no knowledge or musical experience, he would welcome help from any local musician, arranger or musical director. You can contact him at RidgePlays.com. |
