Flaming Idiots
by Tom RooneyCarl and Phil decide that the ladder to success at the post office is missing a few rungs. They know that big money is waiting for people with entrepreneurial spirit and sound business judgment. They open a gourmet health food restaurant with much vim and vigor, but there is just one problem: they have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Zippy's, a popular spot across town, has been crowded ever since Cy Manamalencia, a notorious mobster, was shot there and that was over twenty years ago. What if someone could get murdered in their restaurant? Flaming Idiots is classic farce filled with mistaken identity, profound confusion, slap-stick antics, and a lot of door slamming. The piece won the 1992 New American Comedy Festival Award.

A Little Christmas Spirit
by Pat CookJ.D. Morse has been looking high and low for a special Christmas gift for his grandson. Finally, as a last resort, he wanders into Nick's Emporium, an old-fashioned store chock full of all sorts of gifts and knick-knacks. He has a hard time explaining to Nick what he's looking for, but finds himself falling under the old storekeeper's spell. Just when Morse is about to buy something, he runs into the street to chase kids away from his car. When he returns, he finds the store suddenly dark and quiet. A policeman then shows up to run him off because, "This place ain't been open in forty years!" Morse finds a way back, not only to the store, but to a time years ago when he was a younger man. This Yuletide fantasy is full of holiday spirit and humor and makes us all wish we could find "Nick's Emporium," where life stands still and we can all truly enjoy a little Christmas spirit.

Gender Soufflé
by Lisa CrippsKaye Anders, a book editor living in a Chicago apartment, is single and looking…for a roommate, that is. Her former roommate, Natalie, recently moved out after marrying her boyfriend. Frustrated with her own lack of success on the dating scene, as well as lonely and financially struggling without Natalie to help share the rent, Kaye runs the gamut of creeps and freaks trying to find a suitable replacement. Enter Harris Moore, a professor on sabbatical looking for a place to settle while continuing his research on “The Sociology of Gender.” After boldly reassuring her he is not an axe murderer, Kaye takes Harris in and the sparks soon begin to fly. Could an attraction be building between the two, in spite of their staunch differences of opinion on the opposite sex? Or will they kill each other first? Other characters show up, adding extra spice to the soufflé: There’s Poot, the tool-toting professional beauty contestant; Mark, the handsome womanizing jerk; and a couple of other would-be roommates that…well…you’ll just have to see for yourself.

City of Angels
Music by Cy Coleman
Lyrics by David Zippel
Book by Larry GelbartSwinging, sexy, smart, and funny! Set in the glamorous and seductive Hollywood of the 1940's, this ingenious spoof of the classic film noir era and whodunit films tells side-by-side stories about the "real" world of a detective fiction writer and the "reel" world of his fictional gumshoe hero. One balances romance and rewrites, while the other sidles through a film noir netherworld of vicious thugs and femmes fatales. Winner of six Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score, City of Angels is the first Broadway musical hit to have a full-blown jazz score. You'll swing all the way home!
